Some Altona residents are talking about a strange noise they heard in the middle of the night Thursday into Friday.

Comments floating around town, and on social media, report repeated sounds similar to a back-fire in the northeast corner of town. Some people even report being awakened by the noise which was also described as a very loud 'bang'.

Altona Police confirm they did recieve a noise complaint but could not locate the source of the sound.
