A veteran teacher in Border Land School Division has been named Principal of Rosenfeld Elementary School.

Barb Rempel - provided photoAccording to a BLSD news release, Barb has been in the employment of Rhineland School Division/Border Land School Division for 19 years. During her career, she has served in New Hope School as Principal and as a resource teacher in three schools; Emerson, Rosenfeld and Gretna. She has been a classroom teacher for over 12 years in all grades from Kindergarten to Grade 6 and has served in the capacity as a resource teacher for many years.

Rempel's professional qualifications include a Bachelor of Education and a Post-Baccalaureate Degree in Education, with Major in Special Education and a Graduate Diploma in Education with a Major in Educational Administration.

She has also engaged in numerous professional learning opportunities such as Cognitive Coaching, Adaptive Schools, Restitution Level 1 and 2, WEVAS, Divisional Literacy Coach and Early Intervention in Reading. Rempel has also served on the Early Years Committee, EAL Committee, Literacy Committee and Relationship Engagement and Relevant Learning Priority Committee.

Superintendent Krista Curry added some of the strength’s that Rempel brings to the position are her experience in working in collaboration with families, staff and clinical services. Most recently, she started a Breakfast Club nutrition program and has worked diligently with volunteers in preparing and serving the breakfasts. She is also passionate about the education of students and the professional development of teaching and support staff.
