It has been a winter full of snow this year and snowmobile enthusiasts have enjoyed riding this year.

"It started out really well, around Christmas time. It was looking very good. We got a lot of snow with a couple of storms there. We were grooming early and we were marking early," explained Border Valley Sno-Goers president Vern Wieler. "Then along came the melt in the beginning of February and has gone downhill from there."

With the end of winter coming and the weather going back and forth between melting to freezing, the season for riding is basically over. Wieler stated as it stands the Organization has closed its trail system, have parked its groomer, and is in the process of cleaning up its signs.

"I would say about ninety percent of the trails are actually all in decent shape, where snow base is concerned. It's the other ten percent where we have had water accumulating on the trail from the run off when it was mild and with the little bits of rain we had," said Wieler. "The trails around the towns are probably the worst, because of the water running out of the towns. Other than that the trails are pretty decent. With a little bit of soft snow they'd be alright."

Wieler stated safety is their main concern at this time.

He added running this organization is a job and a lot of work goes into it, and is very thankful for the help of the volunteers who help with getting/keeping things running every year.
