Many have likely noticed the brighter lights illuminating Winkler's streets this past year.

Manitoba Hydro has continued to replace burnt-out lamp posts with new 60 watt LED bulbs.

However, the sporadic installation has created some concerns on City Council in terms of visual appeal.

"It looks a little odd when all-of-a-sudden you have a few LEDs and the rest are conventional lights," Winkler Mayor Martin Harder says.

Yet he says many appreciate the better illumination LED provides.

Roblin Boulevard and 14th Street are some of the many streets benefitting from the brighter lights.

Harder notes council is also looking into any cost savings that may result with the switch to LED.

The city began making the switch in 2016
