The province has updated its fire restrictions in southeast Manitoba.

From PR 302 to the Ontario border, and from the Trans-Canada Highway south to the Canada/U.S. Border, the daytime campfire restrictions have been lifted while motorized backcountry travel restrictions remain in place.

Campfire restrictions have been lifted in South Whiteshell Provincial Park campgrounds which include Caddy Lake, Falcon Lake and West Hawk.

Campfires in North Whiteshell Provincial Park campgrounds are still restricted to burning between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. .

Be sure to check with the local campground office for the latest information.

A burn ban for the RM of Morris and Town of Morris has now been lifted. However, officials ask that people burn only firewood for the time-being and not leaves, grass, trees or branches.

The RM of Montcalm also cancelled its burn ban Friday morning, heading into the May long weekend.

Rainfall amounts over the last day or so were enough to also lower the fire danger level in Winkler, Morden and the RM of Stanley to zero. Under Level Zero, controlled burning is allowed, burn permits may be issued, and recreational fire pits are permitted.
