Canada's 151st birthday celebrations kicks off around the region on Sunday.

0 p.m to 9:00 p.m, food trucks starting at 4:00 p.m. Due to stormy weather the inflatables and chalk drawing contest have been cancelled. The event at the Altona Centennial Park also offers free watermelon and rollkuchen at 6:00 p.m, followed by the Teakle Family Circus at 7:00 p.m. Opening ceremonies begin at 8:00 p.m immediately followed by a fashion show and later queen contestant intros at 9:15 p.m. Live band, Controlled Chaos Trio takes the stage at 9:30 p.m.

In Morris, the Canada Day Festival takes place at the Stampede Grounds from 12:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m. Kids activities include bouncers, a bubble gum blowing contest, free bbq and cake. The day caps off with fireworks at dusk.

In Winkler celebrations take place at the Bethel Heritage Park starting at 3:00 p.m with kids karaoke, a children's carnival and petting zoo from 4:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. Polynesian band, Island Breeze, takes the stage at 4:00 p.m followed by opening ceremonies at 5:00 p.m. Supper runs from 5:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m featuring farmer sausage burgers. Music continues at the main stage with country band, 5 Acres, at 5:15 p.m and classic rock at 6:30 p.m with The Mood.

In Morden the Canada Day Beach Blast takes place at Lake Minnewasta with multicultural performances from 1:30 p.m until 4:00 p.m at the Boardwalk stage. A sand castle competition and kids activities takes place from 1:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m. At 8:00 p.m Greg Arcade takes the stage, followed by a fire show and fireworks at dusk.

In Carman, free swimming from 10:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m and free cake, hot dogs and drinks at the pool.

Elm Creek offers a pancake breakfast, community church service, barbeque lunch and supper, slow-pitch, kids’ activities and an antique tractor pull.

Emerson features a variety of family friendly activities at Emerson Park all day.

In Roseisle enjoy a waffle breakfast, parade, flea market, petting zoo, entertainment, baseball and entertainment by Lulu & the Tomcat at 2:00 p.m, Corny Rempel from 8:00 p.m to 10:30 p.m, followed by fireworks.
