BizCamp and Camp Entrepreneur programs hosted by Community Futures Triple R are taking place this summer in La Broquerie, Morris and St Malo.

Campers ages nine to 13 are taught about business development, entrepreneurship, customer service and sales. For example, participants will learn how to calculate the expenses and revenue in a business to see if they will make a profit.

Jesse, 10, from St. Jean-Baptiste, made solitary bee houses that sold for $15 each.

“I learned that when you meet somebody, you need to be positive, and you need to be positive toward your customers,” he said.

Activities the kids can take part in at the camp include swimming, golfing, scavenger hunts, and a variety of indoor and outdoor games.

Sara and Julia enjoyed going swimming and learning about sales

Julia and Sara from St. Jean-Baptiste are also campers who created items to sell.

“I learned that everyone buys different stuff, and when people come over to your table, or when you meet someone, you always have to be positive and wave and smile,” Julia said.

These campers also added their favourite activity was swimming at the Morris pool.

Sam created fidget spinners, while Owen sold picture frames

Sam and Owen also took part in the program and sold much of their product.

“I'm making fidget spinners, people have bought a lot,” said Sam.

Their favourite part of camp was creating the product and learning what it is like to be an entrepreneur. Owen said it feels awesome to sell his picture frames.
