Love Morris is underway this weekend, with the goal of spreading kindness throughout the community.

The two-day event attracts between 100 and 150 volunteers, who complete clean-up projects in the community and deliver baked goods and plants to homes and businesses.

Joan Van Der Linde, coordinator, said the event is a great community builder.

“I think loving your small town is such a cool way to shoulder together with the community, and to show God's love to people around you,” she said.

The event began nine years ago as a church initiative, and has evolved greatly since then. Businesses have started to show their support by wearing “Love Morris”  T-shirts, and local churches donate money to purchase plants and supplies for the wrap-up barbecue.

Overall, Van Der Linde said she is happy with the outcome of the event.

“The momentum is still here... some projects have their season and their time, but the momentum is still here, and lots of people love this,” she said.
