Wednesday afternoon was the first meeting of the Corn and Apple planning committee in Morden.

While nothing may match the numbers, or the weather, the festival saw last year, chairwoman Lynda MacLean is excited and looking forward to another year.

"We're pretty confident that if the weather is nice again, we're going to have very big crowds again," she said.

Spending and preparations have resumed pre-50th celebration levels, however the City of Morden will continue to provide a grant which increased $25,000 last year. That grant will increase by a small percentage every year, equalling just over $67,000 from the City for this summer's festival.

"Last year was so big," said MacLean. "This year, we're just enjoying the festival. There's no big projects going on."However, she and the board are remaining committed to providing the services and festival staples people look forward to.

The Corn and Apple board is still looking to hire an executive director.
