The Darlingford Fire Department is closer purchasing new heavy-duty equipment that aides crews in extricating victims from overturned vehicles.

The department is hoping to purchase new vehicle stabilization struts. The equipment supports vehicles while members work with the jaws of life and other tools to free people from vehicles that have flipped over.

Darlingford Fire Department's Cal Funk explains the new equipment they're after will support heavier vehicles like cement trucks and semis, however the cost is much higher as well.

Thanks to the community's support, the department is $1,300 closer after the Fundraising Social on Saturday. Despite the weather, Funk says many attendees were still able to enjoy a night of dancing with music from The Hard Miles Band.

"We really appreciated members from Plum Coulee Fire and Miami Fire coming out and supporting us, as well our local friends and neighbours," he says.

Funk notes while they can purchase the equipment in stages, the complete set will cost approximately $30,000.
