Members of the South Central Cancer Resource (SCCR) can take a breather after another successful fundraiser.

The packed evening earlier this year had a line out the door to listen to the King of rock himself, played by Corny Rempel.

With an estimated 350 people attending the Elvis Tribute Fundraiser, Deb Thiessen Resource Coordinator says they had to continue to add more chairs to allow everyone to watch.

Crowds were excited to support SCCR and a chance to listen to the King himself

The Lunatics are a local group that helped kick-off the evening

Organized with the aid of Stardust Drive-In and Morklers the event also featured local group Lunatics. The evening raised a total of $5,465.

Thiessen was ecstatic at the turn out of the event.

"There were more people than what we had expected to have. It was a very special event because SCCR is very dear to my heart. With this extra funding, we establish a few wellness programs."

The new programs include pampering for the women by Pure Anada, art classes by Morden Art Council and yoga.

These new wellness programs and the other services provided by SCCR are only possible thanks to the tremendous support from the community explains Thiessen. The programs help aid SCCR’s clients on their cancer journey and path to recovery.

In 2016 SCCR raised $124,517 in donations, $135,319 in 2017.  Currently for their 2017-2018 fiscal year SCCR has raised $80,500.

SCCR's Fashion Show will be their next big event in April.
