The Dream Catchers musical will be performed this weekend at two Manitoba locations, the P.W. Enns Centennial Concert Hall in Winkler Friday, and The International Peace Garden's Masonic Auditorium on Saturday.

The story line is based on young Canadians' dreams of a Canada 150 years from now. To get an accurate sense of these perspectives, the tour company invited Canadians to send them emails describing what these dreams are.

CEO of the Garden, Garry Enns, said he is looking forward to seeing the musical because it has an inclusive representation of Canada's diverse population.

"I think it's really a great opportunity to see young people in action, because not only has this been driven by the thoughts, ideas and dreams of young people, [but] the cast is also very young, and it's very diverse," he said.

Winkler City Events Coordinator Deb Penner noted that these young performers are on the journey of a lifetime.

"They are youth and they are traveling across the country, probably seeing a lot of really cool places and having a wonderful experience. So it would be really nice to give them a big warm welcome in Winkler as well.

Many Canadian artists were also a part of the production process and musical aspect of the organization, including Manitoba's own Fred Penner.

The show is a Canada 150 project, and was put together by a tour company in Charlottetown, P.E.I.  Admission to the Winkler event will be free.
