The Electoral Divisions Boundaries Commission in Manitoba is proposing some significant changes that will reshape the province's electoral map.

Under the proposed new map, one of the ridings in our region, Midland Constituency, would be renamed as Pembina Constituency and would extend further north to add communities like MacGregor and Austin and stretch further west to include the Cartwright area.

Morden-Winkler Constituency would shrink in size and would include less area from the RM of Stanley.

The Emerson Constituency would absorb more of the rural area area surrounding Morden and Winkler, extending into Roland and further north.

The Commission is also proposing Morris Constituency grow in size to include parts of Midland Constituency to the west and extend further south along PTH 75 as far as Letellier.

Public meetings will now be held across the province through September to allow the Commission to gather feedback on the proposed changes.
