"So far so good."

That from Emerson-area farmer Larry Neumann who said weather has been cooperating this summer when it comes to harvest.

He has already finished up wheat and expects to wrap up oats Wednesday, while also starting on canola.

Neumann added his wheat yields have been reaching the high 70s, even tipping the 80 bushel per acre mark. He said oat yields have also been fantastic, averaging 170+ bushels per acre. "That's the highest I've ever seen, around here anyway, for me."

Neumann noted he's been getting number one gradings on his wheat, and pointed out that his oats are coming in heavy. And with very little disease issues, he said the season is pretty close to perfect.

Meantime, he said soybeans are starting to quickly change colour and expects harvest to be about two to three weeks away.

"They look not too bad," he added. "I don't think the pods are going to fill as much as they could have had we had a decent rain about three weeks back. I think they're running low on moisture."

Neumann noted the cereals and canola haven't been as impacted by the dry conditions this year, noting they were far enough along before things got too hot.
