A number of Municipalities in Manitoba will be making some large flood claims to the Manitoba Disaster Financial Assistance Program in 2017, including Emerson-Franklin.

Dike communities managed to escape the higher water in the area this spring, however roads and structures like the Senkiw bridge were not so lucky. CAO Tracey French says at least twenty-five sites were affected by flooding this spring.

"Most of them were minor road or culvert washouts, but some of them had estimated costs for repair of over $1,000, and we will be making a claim for those costs. The sites are mostly in the eastern part of our municipality, damage to the bridge in Senkiw will also be included in the claim. We have estimated our claim for 2017 to be around $150,000."

French added that most of the sites have been repaired already, noting they have kept receipts and proof of all expenses to submit with the claim.
