If you are planning on renting the New Horizon Centre located in Emerson in the future, you will now be required to sign a rental agreement. In the past rental fees were paid, you were asked to leave the hall as you found it and you were given a key that needed to be returned after your event.

President of the New Horizon Centre Robyn Copeland said no changes were made to the previous agreement because there wasn't one.

"There had never been a formal rental agreement when you rented the hall, there was no paper trail to keep track of how much funds were made and who had rented it over the year," said Copeland.

Copeland went on to say that the board felt it was time to put an agreement in place, so people would be aware of the expectations and to make the whole process much more user friendly.

"Now if you are renting the hall you know what you are getting, what you can use, what you cant use, you know what the rate is there's no grey area," said Copeland.

Extensive renovation were also made to the hall over the past year. Flooring was refinished, a lot of painting, bathroom upgrades and the back wall of the hall was starting to give way and has since been repaired. Overall the hall has seen a very nice modern face lift that was long awaited.

Copeland mentioned that more renovation was to come in 2017

"A room in the back of the hall that had not been used for a number of years and was previously a woodworking room will be refinished throughout 2017. The room was not properly ventilated to be used as a woodworking room, so we sold all the tools and will use those funds to give it a fantastic facelift by filling holes in the walls, painting and providing the right furniture," noted Copeland.

He also continued by saying the room would be perfect for meetings of eight to twelve people and would come at a much lower cost than renting the entire hall.
