Winkler Area farmer Jack Froese finished harvesting his canola and wheat.

He is now moving on to cutting dry beans, and added the soybeans are ready to go as well. When it comes to the soybeans, he said there are mixed results this year.

"The soybeans are a little bit of a mixed bag, some of them look pretty good, others, I think they ran out of moisture by looks of things. We'll find out when we get into them with the combine to see where they end up. It's more of a shallow-rooted crop so they needed the moisture," he said.

Froese added the yield on the canola was really good, and it was one of the better crop years for canola and wheat.

"The wheat has also been very good with very good bushel weight...I guess the question mark is going to be the later crops."

The quality for wheat was excellent, he added.

Froese noted they will likely wait until October to begin harvesting corn. He isn't concerned about frost because his corn, as well as many the area, is basically done.

"It is drying down really quick, looking at the cobs and the kernels are all dented and the bottom part of the corn stalk are starting to dry off," he said.
