A 34 year old Brandon man and 39 year old Morris woman are facing nearly two dozen charges after a traffic stop initiated by Altona Police Tuesday morning ended with the vehicle finally being stopped near Roland.

According to a news release issued Wednesday afternoon, around 7:15 a.m., Altona Police attempted to stop the vehicle as it entered town off Highway 30 as a result of information received. During the contact with police the female operator of the vehicle fled the scene initiating a pursuit. The explosives which were confiscated described as a “High Risk Take Down”, the man and woman were taken into custody.

During the initial search of the vehicle police located and seized approximately $14,000 worth of Methamphetamine, a small amount of Cocaine and Crack Cocaine, $12,000 worth of Canadian currency, a modified shotgun, 4x sticks of Emulsion (explosives), detonation cord and detonators.

The arrested female is facing 8 charges and the male 14 charges, this as a result of him currently serving out a prior sentence of Probation. Police also learned he is wanted by police in two other jurisdictions, one in Manitoba and the other in Alberta.

Charges from the Altona Police file are related to the Possession of the Explosives, Illegal Possession of the modified Shotgun, Flight from Police, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Trafficking Meth and several Breaches of Probation.

Both of the accused persons have been remanded into custody at the Provincial Remand Center.

The RCMP Explosive Devices Unit attended the scene, and both confirmed and destroyed the Emulsion.
