A familiar face will once again chair the Garden Valley School Division board.

Laurie Dyck was elected by her fellow trustees to serve in the role for a fifth consecutive year.

"It's always an honour to be nominated, and elected by your colleagues, that they show faith and trust in you...it is a team effort for sure, and I am looking forward to working with this new board."

The board held its reorganization meeting Tuesday, where in addition to Dyck being elected chair, Tash Olfert was elected Vice-Chair. Olfert will also chair the Education Committee.

Leading the Operations Committee will be Leah Klassen, and John Klassen will head the Policy Committee.

Meanwhile, Dyck says she looks forward to the fresh views the board's four new trustees will bring to the table. "I think they will bring a whole new perspective to public education," said Dyck. "Some of them have children in school, which is one dynamic that was decreasing with the board that we had before."

The four new trustees are Barb Heide, Jake Fehr, Deana Wilson, and Tena Lane.
