Rob Klassen of Starbuck was surprised to find a prize in his talcum powder last month. Klassen said he found a small green bucket in the pail he purchased from Green Valley Equipment (GVE) in Altona. Talc USA puts three of these green prize cups in their 20lb pails every year.

Klassen said he dusted off the cup and read the plaque, which stated he won $500 to spend at the company where it was purchased.

"I was quite surprised. I was just thankful I didn't throw it in the garbage bucket that sits on top of the planter," he said.

After bringing the cup to GVE, Klassen was surprised once more to discover a $2,000 donation to a non-profit group was part of the prize.

Klassen allowed GVE to decide where the donation should go, and Altona's Youth For Christ was chosen as the recipient.

The organization's Co-director Sheridan Sawatzky was happy to accept the donation.

"The financial demand of what we do to keep our programs running is only growing, so it'll help to keep our doors open ... it's amazing to see big companies like this support our little ministry," he said.

Greg Loewen, parts manager for GVE in Altona, said the organization was chosen because of their great involvement with kids in the community.

"We thought they'd be an excellent recipient of the donation," said Loewen.
