During Morden's 2019 Budget presentation, concerns were brought forward by residents on the status of Morden's Internet service.

The city had budgeted MoreNet for $815,000, meaning the project would have an estimated total investment cost of $1.2 million.

With the project facing numerous hurdles and several delays, Council performed a cost-benefit analysis on MoreNet, saying it would take some time to come to a proper consensus on the Internet service's viability, and was supposed to only take a few weeks.

"Good things take time, and this is no exception," says Morden Mayor Brandon Burley. "We've been working as hard as we can. The city manager was gone for a week to the FCMI, so it has dragged itself out, but we're very close to a resolution."

Burley adds the number presented in the budget is based on borrowing, and a by-law would need to be set to use those numbers.
