Local residents will have an opportunity to share concerns and questions with Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer Monday.

Portage-Lisgar MP Candice Bergen will host the leader of Canada's Conservatives at a town hall meeting in Winnipeg.

"It's not scripted, it's an open conversation with Canadians," Bergen explains. "[Scheer] really wants to connect, hear what people are thinking, hear what their concerns are and be able to answer their questions."

She notes concerns are growing over job losses across the country in the oil and gas sector and with the closing of a GM plant in Ontario. "This is very concerning and we have a government that is going into massive deficit... when times were good they spent and the cupboard is bare and now we can see things are getting tough."

"We are seeing tough times could be on the way and the government just isn't ready for it."

The Town Hall will begin at 7:00 pm at the Canad Inns Destination Centre Garden City, located at 2100 McPhillips St, Winnipeg.
