The grand re-opening for Winkler restaurant, Twisters, on Tuesday was the fulfillment of a life-long dream for Manager and part-owner Christine Kornelson.

Kornelson started as a waitress at Twisters at the age of 16, working with the restaurant's original owners. She continued to work at the restaurant after getting married and having her first child.

Since then she has dreamt of owning her own restaurant, though Kornelson says she didn't realize it would be the same place she started.

"It's kind of freakish, you never think your fate will bring you somewhere you've already been," Kornelson says. "It's exciting, the fact that I have a history with it and an idea of how it was run... I'm glad I can provide a service for people where I grew up."

She describes the restaurant as a nostalgic trip to the 1950's, with a simple menu of fresh, homemade food.

"A blast from the past," part-owner Ray Wiebe explains.

The restaurant opened 26 years ago and Wiebe says they hope to capture the original vision for the restaurant.

"The menu is known for the 50's style and we want to keep it that way," he says.
