Since the induction of Jumpstart in 2005, Canadian Tire's have been able to give the children in their communities the chance to be a sports-star.

The national charity raises funds which stay in the community with 100 percent of proceeds going to support the kids of families in financial need

On Saturday Winkler's Canadian Tire hosted a free Carnival bringing the awareness to the cause. Store Owner David Dunseath says no kid should miss out on being a part of a team due to financial limitations.

People in a tight financial situation may not be aware that the program is available for them as the nature of Jumpstart makes talking about receiving it's aid uncomfortable.

"Not many people stand-up and say, hey look at me I'm financially disadvantaged and Jumpstart helped me out. It's hard to get the word out through word-of-mouth," explains Dunseath.

The committee consists of Canadian Tire, Mark's Work Warehouse, Big Brothers Big Sisters Morden-Winkler, Parks and Recreations Winkler, and Parks and Recreations Morden. These groups work together to find families which could use Jumpstart aid.

Jumpstart creates opportunities for both individual and groups of kids to take part in a variety of sports, from Taekwondo to skating.

Dunseath is a huge advocate of the program,  he says families have told him how thankful they are for the chance to enroll their child in sports. Last year alone, Jumpstart helped over 300 kids looking to play on a team with their friends.

Over the month of June, the store, along with Mark's Work Warehouse, will be accepting donations for Jumpstart which will continue making a difference in a child's life.
