The Municipality of Morris has several mounds of dirt just laying around for the taking, just in time for garden season.

The RM has been removing soil from its municipal drains that has drifted in from nearby fields. That has generated a lot of excess soil for the municipality that it really doesn't want.

Reeve Ralph Groening said local ratepayers are welcome to it.

"It's on the side of the roads and people occasionally ask what we should do with it. If you are interested you can contact the municipal office, and if it is not inconvenient, then you can pick up what you need."

Groening added that if the dirt is not taken away then it will need to be moved or levelled out by the public works department, which comes at a cost to the Municipality. Groening added, the Municipality has no intention of charging anyone for the soil.

"No cost what so ever for the individual, and if we have available equipment, we would even load it into your truck for you for free. It would actually be a big help to us if people want the dirt and they are able to take it away," explained Groening.
