Friends are remembering the life of Jaydeep Patel, a Winkler man who passed away in a car accident May 22.

The fatal head-on collision occurred on Highway #3 near Sperling.

Friends of 27-year-old Jaydeep Patel say he was, "a great human being, compassionate, a good friend, a good husband."

Roommate Samip Acharya says it's hard to fathom, "nobody should have to go through this."

"It's very hard to believe he's gone," fellow friend Garry Ghuman says. "He was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone... it's a great loss to all of us."

In the vehicle at the time of the accident was Patel's wife and two friends, all who are recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver in the other vehicle, a 22-year-old Winnipeg man, Nolin Bouchard died in the crash.

Lacey Riley, a friend of the family, has started a gofundme page for the Bouchards which has already raised nearly $4,000. Follow the campaign here

Bouchard was travelling with his mother Angie Weisz to Winnipeg. Weisz was transported to hospital in critical condition and friends say she has a long road to recovery.

Of Bouchard Riley writes, "With great sadness, we are laying to rest an amazing young man who was taken too soon... Nolin was loved dearly from all who knew him."

She explains the fundraiser is to help ease the financial burden associated with the loss of a loved one.
