An extra $3,840 has been added to the Rhineland and Area Food Bank coffers thanks to the generosity of the employee-owners at Friesens Corporation.

The donation was made through the company's Employee-Directed Giving Program where each employee-owner voted for the local organizations they felt would benefit the most. The amount given is based on the number of votes the winning recipient garnered.

"The food bank is one of the perennial favourites of our employee-owners as they choose worthy causes in the community. The food bank addresses a fundamental human need and we're proud to support them in this noble work," said CEO Chad Friesen in a submitted statement.

According to the release, one of Friesens' core values is to help build a stronger community by investing through both cash donations and by supporting its employee-owners as coaches, youth leaders, fund raisers, and many other important volunteer roles.

In addition, FrieFrisens Corp. sponsors numerous initiatives every year from the local level to the national level focusing on literacy, culture, education, environment, history, care, and recreation.
