Gateway Resources is in the middle of completing a home at its Mountain Street location in Morden. CEO Kim Nelson said the goal is to have it complete by the middle of April.

"We are building a one-level, four bedroom house," said Nelson. "Really it's just a need to update some of our homes. The Round House served a purpose for when it was built. As time wore on and maintenance costs went up we took this opportunity to tear it down and build a side-by-side for the individuals living in that home. We looked at the property and looked at the needs of the people we are currently supporting. We figured having another one level home would be very beneficial."

Nelson stated this new one-level place will help people Gateway is already serving, who may need a change in living accommodations because of a variety of reasons, including mobility restrictions.

"Everyone is very excited knowing that this possibility is coming. We haven't confirmed who is all going to be living in this home yet," said Nelson.

Money for this new home has come from a lot of fundraising and from a few operational grants they've received.

According to Nelson, it's their goal to have it completed in the middle of April, with residents moving in sometime after that.
