Harland meeting with RCMP after evacuation was called off.

Manitoba RCMP are investigating email threats that were sent to multiple community businesses Thursday throughout the province. The email threats are demanding Bitcoin payment.

Golden West Radio's centre in Portage was issued such a threat.

"We got an email sent to our newsroom asking us to send money otherwise there would be some type of device set off in our building," explained Paul Harland, station manager.

Harland adds RCMP were notified immediately and shortly after officers and fire fighters arrived at the radio station. He explains staff went through the protocol of evacuation and were later ensured the premises were clear by direction of the RCMP.

Manitoba RCMP says if you've been the recipient of one of these e-mail threats, please do not respond to the Bitcoin demand.

Police are determining the origin and validity of the threats. The investigation is ongoing.
