Sunny skies greeted participants in the annual Curtis Klassen Walk/Run To Remember on Saturday morning in Altona.

Organizers expected over 140 people to participate in the memorial event.

Spokesman Ryan Hildebrand says they're still crunching all the numbers on donations, but they expect to set a new record by raising over $10,000 during this year's spring campaign.

The proceeds from the event go back into the community in the form of an annual scholarship for students at W.C. Miller Collegiate, and to provide financial support for community projects and grassroots sports.

The walk/run event has raised over $40,000 for the community since its inception in 2008.
