Josh Guenter has set a new record in the Manitoba Legislature.

According to the Progressive Conservative Caucus, the twenty-five year old Guenter, who is the first MLA  elected to the new Borderland constituency, happens to be the youngest Progressive Conservative MLA to ever serve in the Manitoba Legislature. The first-time MLA is also the youngest member to serve in the 42nd Legislature following a swearing in ceremony Wednesday afternoon that officially marked the start of service for Guenter and 35 other MLAs.

"It is a privilege to represent the people of Borderland and to be part of the next generation of elected officials serving our great province," said Guenter in a party-issued release, adding "I look forward to working with our team to build an even stronger Manitoba."

In addition, the party says a second milestone was achieved at Wednesday's ceremony.Southdale MLA Audrey Gordon officially becomes the first-ever black MLA sworn in as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba.

The first session of the 42nd Legislature will begin on Monday, September 30 with a Speech from the Throne.
