After establishing in 2013, the Northland Childcare Centre (NCC) in Winkler will have a second day care centre under its operation.



At its last board meeting, the Garden Valley School Division passed a motion to accept the centre's bid to operate the new child care centre to be located at the Pine Ridge Elementary School.

NCC has been operating since Northlands Parkway Collegiate opened 5 years ago, and Superintendent Vern Reimer says, as a division, they are looking forward to continuing working with them in partnership.

Just like at the day care at Northlands Parkway Collegiate, Reimer says the division will essentially be the landlord, while NCC will be the tenant. "We will look at putting a contract in place, just like we have with NCC (at NPC), and then they will be responsible for all the registrants, all the policies, and the insurance, and so on."

Meanwhile, Reimer says this new centre will be a little different than the one at Northlands Parkway, having a before and after school component.
