Tenders for the Highway 13 reconstruction project through Carman should be going out by the end of June. After numerous delays spanning several years, a final design plan for the work is nearly complete. Mayor Bob Mitchell says town officials recently met with representatives from Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation to go over that plan.

"There's some closures, like road closures and things like that, access routes that they wanted to go through. There's some issues with how they're going to design things by the railway tracks but they'll work that one out."

He adds MIT would now like to meet with affected property owners to highlight some of those closures and changes to access points.

And while repeated delays have caused the price of the project to go up a bit, Mitchell says Council isn't too worried, noting "We've allowed for that in our budget."
