Nearly $10,000 was raised for the Winkler and District Cheerboard this morning at the Scotiabank Holly Jolly Breakfast.

Approximately $5,000 was raised by donations, and then matched by Scotiabank to purchase bulk food orders for this year's Christmas hampers.

Musicians like Bill Dowling, Ed Wayne and Denise Lea Tonna serenaded those gathered at the Southland Mall.

Marilyn Dyck of the Winkler Cheerboard says seeing the crowds of support was overwhelming, "it's just really heartwarming, the community is supporting those families that really need a boost this Christmas."

Scotia Bank's Kerri Leroux explains they chose to support the organization because of the need at Christmas time.

"We like to see were able to touch so many people, and help them have a wonderful Christmas," she says.

Leroux notes each they see the event grow, topping last year's amount by approximately $2,000.
