Today's goal for the Montcalm Public Works staff will be to energize and inform the public about the important role public works projects play in their daily lives.

It's Public Works Week and for the first time St Jean will hold an event showcasing the number of advantages and services the team provides that people sometimes take for granted. Public Works Manager Chad Buhlin said today is about national recognition of the public works realm.

"We are going to be celebrating what we do as a group and sharing that with the public, we will be displaying all our equipment that we use to do the day to day work in the community. We also have a raffle and a free barbecue to get the public involved."

Buhlin went on to say that they have even gone as far as getting the local school involved and expect to see some students at today's event.

"It's important for as many people to attend today as possible, just to be more knowledgeable about what we do for the public. Obviously everyone pays taxes and it should be important to know what that money goes to and the amount of time and effort my staff spend making things the way people enjoy," explained Buhlin.

Buhlin added that the event will take place today at the St Jean Public Works office and that everyone from inside and outside of the community is welcome to attend, noting the designated time will be from 11am to 2pm.
