The following is the Morden Police Service report for the period of March 13th to March 27, 2017, as submitted by the department.

 

March 13th, 2017

Police received an anonymous call around 2:10 am of a possible impaired driver leaving the Traveller’s Inn. Police attended and located a female sleeping in a vehicle matching the description. The 41-year-old female was arrested under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act and lodged in cells until sober. She was released without charges.

 

March 15th, 2017

At 6:18 am, police received a call from a resident in Morden advising there was a male outside her window who was smoking marihuana. Caller believed she knew who this individual was and was also aware he was currently on probation. Police attended and searched the area with negative results. The caller admitted that she was not completely certain it was in fact this individual and really did not see the person.

 

March 15th, 2017

Received a call of a break and enter to a garage on Nelson Street in Morden. Suspects entered the unlocked garage and went through a vehicle parked inside, taking several items. There was no damage to the garage or vehicle as both were left unlocked. March 18th, 2017

Police responded to a fight in progress at Rock`s Bar & Grill parking lot around 2:05 am. Police spoke with witnesses who advised that two individuals had words, took off their shirt`s and began to fight outside. Several individuals attempted to break up the fight. One individual had a bloody nose as a result but did not require medical attention. A second individual had his tooth knocked out but did not know who hit him. Police eventually determined the two suspects who were fighting and one required medical attention due to a cut on his chin and loss of memory. He was transported to Boundary Trails Health Centre for treatment and observation. Neither of the individuals involved was interested in criminal charges but both were issued Provincial Offence Notices under the Liquor and Gaming Control Act for Disorderly Conduct in or around a Licensed Premise, which carries a fine of $673.65.

 

March 19th, 2017

At 4:07 am, police received a call from a female advising that she had been kicked in the face by her husband earlier and he is now passed out. Police attended the residence and spoke with the victim who was crying, but had no visible injuries. The couple had got into an argument earlier, which resulted in the assault. As police were speaking with the victim, she became uncooperative and started yelling at police. The suspect was found in a bedroom intoxicated and sleeping. He was placed under arrest for assault. As police escorted the accused out of the residence, the victim continued to yell at police. The accused was lodged in cells until sober and released on a Promise to Appear in Morden Provincial Court in April. A query through police dispatch later revealed the victim herself was on conditions as a result of being charged for Assault. She was on a Recognizance with conditions to maintain a certain residency and to abstain from the consumption of alcohol. As a result, the victim was also arrested for Breach of Recognizance and was remanded into custody. She was transported to the Women`s Correctional Facility in Headingley where she awaits her next court appearance.

March 23rd, 2017

While conducting a traffic stop at 12:45 am for an obscured license plate, a check through police dispatch indicated the driver was on a Recognizance with a curfew of 10:00 pm to 6:00 am. The 37-year-old male was arrested for Breach of Recognizance and was released before a Justice on another Recognizance to appear in Morden Provincial Court in April.

 

March 23rd, 2017

At 9:20 pm, police observed a vehicle with a possible unlicensed driver. Police conducted a traffic stop and the driver immediately advised that he had weed in the vehicle. The driver produced a Medical Marihuana card that indicated he was allowed to be in a possession of a certain quantity. Police seized the marihuana, weighing 111 grams, along with the card for further investigation.

 

March 23rd, 2017

Police received a call at 2:29 am from a resident on River Road advising that a group of people just threw beer bottles on her driveway and house, breaking a window and damaging the siding. Police attended and observed a group of individuals walking down Nelson Street. One individual ran into a house when he observed police. He was apprehended but the 18-year-old male denied throwing any beer bottles. Police spoke with other individuals in the group who also denied any involvement. The investigation is continuing.

 

March 25th, 2017

While on general patrol around 2:00 am, police observed a vehicle on Mountain Street in Morden pull over to the curb to allow some pedestrians to get in. A check of the license plate on the vehicle came back as inactive. The vehicle began travelling north on Mountain Street then turned onto Wardrop Street at a high rate of speed. Emergency lights were activated and the vehicle was observed to go through an intersection without stopping at the stop sign. The vehicle accelerated and again, drove through another intersection without stopping at the stop sign. The vehicle then entered a bay, could not exit, and came to a stop. There were four passengers in the vehicle. The driver was advised the reasons for the stop at which time he indicated that he also did not have a driver’s license. A strong odor of liquor was detected on the driver who was asked to exit the vehicle. The driver attempted to step out, but fell back into the vehicle. He was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the Morden Police Service for tests. The driver produced samples of his breath that were analyzed at 150 and 140mg%. The 18-year-old driver from Roland was charged with Drive Impaired, Drive over .08, Drive while Disqualified and Drive Motor Vehicle without Liability Insurance. He will be appearing in Morden Provincial Court in May.
