The last suspects were charged last month in a major joint drug bust between Morden and Winkler police services dating back to 2014.

"It was a huge undertaking... kind of the first project of its kind in our area," Winkler Police Chief Ryan Hunt says. "It was a huge success."

Together with the RCMP Federal Serious and Organized Crime Unit, operation Project Denver saw ten suspects arrested and quantities of cocaine and LSD seized, as well as over $4,600 in cash. In May 2018, the last of the suspects charged during Project Denver were convicted in court and sentenced. Sentences ranged from 14 months to five years.

"It's good to see the courts are also realizing drug trafficking is a serious offence, and it obviously shows up in the sentencing they handed out," Hunt says.

In addition to various firearms prohibitions and other court orders, the following suspects received the following sentences:

Reuben Reimer, age 32 at the time of his arrest, was convicted of one count of trafficking cocaine and sentenced to five years imprisonment.

Brian Hodgson, age 21 at the time of his arrest, was convicted of one count of trafficking cocaine and one count of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. He was sentenced to a total of 27 months imprisonment.
