The Live History travelling theatre is coming to the South Central Regional Library (SCRL) August 28 in Winkler and Morden.

The program offers a fun way to learn about both cities' backgrounds.

One workshop will be site-specific, and the other will be a mystery workshop.

In Winkler, people will learn about the Bethel Hospital grounds and Cornelius Wiebe, and in Morden people can learn more about the old post office and Bruce the mosasaur.

Cathy Ching, Director of Library Services at SCRL, explained why this group was picked to come to the libraries.

"I think it's a really great way for people to realize small towns are really important and our history is so important... especially for new people to our communities it's kind of an 'ah-ha' moment that, you know, there were famous people here," she said.

The workshops are meant to be entertaining, but also help teach public speaking and presentation skills.

Also, the workshops at either location will be free.

"There was a cost involved and lucky for us we applied for a grant through the Pembina Escarpment Reading Council, and received a $500 grant from them, so that helped for for this, so there is no cost to anybody that wants to attend," said Ching.

The program is for all ages and people can call any of the library branches to register.
