The owner of a local business recently reported to Winkler Police they had been the victim of fraud.

The owner explained they received a call from an individual claiming to be from Google and advised that her business' address was listed incorrectly on Facebook. The fraudster advised the owner that the address could be corrected for a fee of $600, and $269 per month afterward until the process was completed, which could take approximately three to six months.

The owner provided her credit information and a total of $1,900 was charged to the credit card. The female was advised to notify her credit card company of the fraudulent charges.
