After years of pouring their hearts and souls into their music as a group, Morden indie-folk band, Lakes and Pines celebrated a huge milestone Saturday. The band held a concert to mark the release of its debut album 'Peace Comes at Last,' and it was a sold out show at Morden's Kenmor Theatre.

"The number of people that turned out to support us was a really great feeling," said band member Patrick Simoens.  "We really feel that we created something beautiful

together.  It's kind of a sense of relief to finally say we've done this and it's out in the world now."

Simeons said the title of the CD, 'Peace Comes at Last,' was taken from a line from one of their songs, and sums up the basic theme of the album, which is about getting through a season.  He said the album came together from every part of the heart and touches on a bit of everything in life.

Simeons said he's proud of where the group has come in the roughly five years they've been together.  He said the support they have received has really been felt, especially during the making of their debut cd.

"We were definitely supported by our community.  We had an Indiegogo campaign which allows you to pre-order the CD before it's even made.  There were other perks as well, we did anything from having a house concert or doing a canoe trip of Lake Minnewasta."  Simeons said the campaign raised a good chunk of the money they needed to record the album, which really took a lot of the financial stress out of the project.

As for what's next for Lakes and Pines, Simeon said at this point they will see what happens with the album, and see where it goes. "We will definitely make another one at some point."

'Peace Comes at Last' can be purchased locally at Janzen Brothers Music and the Pembina Hills Arts Council, and from the band itself.
