Around 16,000 students were in attendance for We Day 2017 in Winnipeg Wednesday. Students from all over the province gathered at Bell MTS Place for a day filled with inspirational speakers and entertainment for the students.

"There was a lot of emphasis on suicide and mental health awareness," said grade twelve student Tina Rempel, who attends Garden Valley Collegiate (GVC) in Winkler.

The day was filled with speakers and entertainers, who did their best to make a lasting impact on each of the students in attendance.

"The biggest thing for me was learning about the women in struggling countries and how to help them to be able to get an education and good lives," said grade nine student Emily Bueckert who attends GVC.

We Day which originally started in 2007 has been touring all over the country and has been giving youth ideas and the power to be innovative leaders and get more involved in making a difference in the world.

Wednesday's speakers included George Takei, Kerry Kennedy, Alexandre Trudeau, David Patchell-Evans, Sarah Wells, Eli Brown, Lisa Charleyboy, Sonya Ballantyne, Carol Todd, and Ben Sabic.

"Even though that we are young there is still something that we can do," said Vanessa Wiebe, a grade twelve student at Morden Collegiate. "It's just amazing to see that young people are making a difference."

The event was hosted by Spencer West, Tai Young, and Hannah Alper, while entertainment was provided by Tyler Shaw, Jully Black, Panicland, and the Kenyan Boys Choir.
