Many men and women have dedicated their lives to serving in the Canadian military.

The Valley Agricultural Society alongside the Manitoba Stampede, want to thank those who served.

Administrative Assistant, Rebah Krahn says that with Canada's 150th, there's not a better way to celebrate than with the people who have helped us achieve that.

"We've decided to start a community outreach program, and we have chosen to do it for military families and veterans."

This is the first year the Valley Ag Society and Manitoba Stampede has had a program like this.

"The idea has always been part of one of my initiatives that I've wanted to start with the Valley Ag Society and Manitoba Stampede for awhile, and it was kind of pushed along, pushed along, until they kind of just let me do it," explained Krahn.

500 vouchers for rodeo passes have been given to the Ag Society, and they've donated 250 to the Military Family Resource Centre.

Krahn says the remaining 250 will be donated to veterans, and that they've been in contact with a number of legions.

The Manitoba Stampede runs July 20 - 23, and Krahn hopes this will give those who served the country an experience they might not have otherwise enjoyed.
