Alex Loewen is the Entertainment Coordinator for the Manitoba Sunflower Festival

The Manitoba Sunflower Festival committee has slowly been revealing the lineup for this year's stage shows.

While Friday and Saturday will follow a similar pattern to previous years, Sunday will be different than the past, according to Entertainment Coordinator Alex Loewen.

“To my understanding, Sunday has always been more of a laid back, local... instrumental, sometimes inspirational type of afternoon, so this year we're going with a little more variety,” said Loewen.

Though all the performers are still local, most coming from southern Manitoba, Loewen said the acts will be more upbeat and outgoing.

A Creedance Clearwater Revival tribute group from the Winnipeg area called The Travellin' Band will kick off the weekend during the Friday evening stage show.

Saturday afternoon calls for children's entertainment by award-winning comedian and magician Greg Wood, who has appeared at the festival before. In the evening, a Keith Urban tribute singer and guitarist known as Golden Road will wrap up the night.

After Sunday morning's inspirational program, comedian Matt Falk will take the stage. Loewen said he expects the Niverville native will begin the afternoon on a lighter note, preparing the audience for a day of exciting entertainment.

Following acts include folk and country singer Richard Inman, New Orleans style Dirty Catfish Brass Band, Altona artist Kenzie Jane, and country musician Lindsay Rae from Winkler.

With these more extroverted entertainment choices, Loewen said he hopes the lineup will attract more people from surrounding communities.
