The province has set March 12th as the deadline for removal of ice fishing shelters along the Red River.

Manitoba Sustainable Development says this is due to the uncertainty of ice conditions, warmer weather and high water moving north from the United States.

Many shelters in the Selkirk area have already been removed to accommodate ice cutting and the operation of the Amphibex ice-breaking equipment.

Under provincial regulations, ice fishing shelters must be removed by March 12th from the Red River, March 31st across the rest of southern Manitoba and by April 15th for the rest of Manitoba unless requested sooner by a Conservation Officer.
