Progressive Conservative MLA Cliff Graydon is speaking out following a string of resignations from Manitoba's Board of Directors Wednesday that left him the lone board member.

Nine of the ten Manitoba Hydro board members left their positions explaining the group had attempted for more than a year to meet with Premier Brian Pallister to discuss critical issues related to finance and governance but were unable to have a meaningful dialogue.

A statement also indicated that, "Despite repeated attempts we have not been able to have a meaningful dialogue with the government and we have reached an impasse."

Graydon said that while he is disappointed in the outcome, he does respect the group's decision to leave.

"I had formed great friendships with a very intelligent Board, a very competent Board that had plenty of business acumen. They had done an excellent job digging (Manitoba Hydro) out of the hole that the NDP had left."

Graydon added that he recused himself from any discussions related to these departures, stating that he has a responsibility to his constituents and to his colleagues at the Manitoba Legislature.

Meantime, the group claimed that they had also become aware the government intends to remove Chairman Sanford Riley from the organization and that is what prompted them to resign.

Resignations included Chairman Riley, Dave Brown, Earl Edmondson, Steve Kroft, Jennefer Nepinak, Michael Pyle, Allen Snyder, Dayna Spiring and Dr. Annette Trimbee.

Graydon noted he understands that some of the vacancies have already been filled and expects an announcement highlighting those appointments to be made shortly.
