The Morden and District Chamber of Commerce has named its new chair. Michelle Sawatzky will replace outgoing Chad Sheldon, whose term had expired.

"Our goals clearly are to enhance awareness of it's membership benefits to our members," said Sawatzky, whose excited to take on the new role. "Specifically our group insurance that's available to members. Our insurance is fantastic for a small business. The other thing is our merchant services. First data for credit card processing, we have great rates and we'd like the members to know that."

Sawatzky noted they have strong local partnerships, a dedicated board, and great staff, which will help the Chamber follow its strategic plan and follow through on it.

This will be her first time as chair of the Chamber and is looking forward to connecting with the business community and helping them along the way.

"I think a lot of it is connecting with others and listening to our members. Then bringing that information to our executive and moving forward on what our members say," explained Sawatzky.

She stated the Chamber is really important to any business because a Chamber is a voice for the business' to any form of government and is also there to provide great benefits to its members.
