The Morden Royal Canadian Legion Branch #11 is looking forward to celebrating 50 years on Sunday.

Bob Frost, Legion President says, "it's open to anyone who wants to come, the general public. Please come and join us."

Over 1400 branches across the country serve as a cornerstone for many communities, and the first brick of Morden's building couldn't have been placed without fundraising from the Ladies Auxiliary.

Frost says that is only the beginning of their long list of invited, and honoured guests.

"I do know that our clubroom chairman sent out invitations to past presidents of our branch, members of our Ladies Auxiliary, and actually people who had signed the original guestbook when the building was opened."

Along with lunch and sandwiches, there will be a special display that visitors can look at to learn about the history of the Legion.

"We're asking anyone who has any related photos, documents, or memorabilia, that would be relevant to the original opening of the Legion, to bring it along and share it with the people," says Frost.

The event will go from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23 in the clubroom.
