The Morden Police Service continues to get complaints of drivers running the red light at the intersection of 11th Street and Thornhill near Maple Leaf School.  This has been an on-going issue since the traffic lights at the crosswalk were erected a number of years ago.

With reports of this still happening, the Morden Police Service is again reminding motorists to pay close attention at that particular area.  Sergeant Brent Menzies says this is a major safety issue for them, and they want to see compliance.  "The crossing guards are reporting to us that drivers still continue to either stop at the red light and once the pedestrians cross they proceed through the red light, or drivers are just not stopping for the red light."

Menzies says when the light is red, you must stay stopped until it changes to green.

When they can, Menzies says they have an officer monitoring the intersection, and will charge motorists if they go through the red light.  He said they've also begun charging drivers when they receive reports from the crossing guards, if there's enough information to act on.

Meanwhile, the following is the Morden Police Service weekly report for the period of January 9 - January 23, 2017, as submitted by the department.
