The following is the Morden Police Service Report for the period of June 12th to June 18th, as submitted by the department.

June 12th, 2017

A bike was stolen on June 10th sometime between 4:00 – 5:00 pm from an apartment complex on 9th Street in Morden.  The bike was locked up at the time, but the suspects cut the lock.  The bike is described as a black Avalanche GT men’s mountain bike.  Anyone with information regarding this incident are asked to call the Morden Police Service at 822-4900, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).

June 12th, 2017

Police received a call of a woman screaming from inside an apartment in Morden.  The caller indicated they could hear the woman from outside the apartment complex. Police attended and mediated a fight between a female and her Uncle.  The male was arrested for being intoxicated and held in custody until sober.  Both parties indicated that they were assaulted but neither was willing to proceed with charges.  

June 12th, 2017

A hit and run accident was reported that occurred on June 11th between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm in the parking lot of Shoppers Drug Mart in Morden. The owner returned to her vehicle and noticed damage to the driver’s side front bumper of her 2015 red Ford Focus.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Morden Police Service at 822-4900, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).


June 14th, 2017

Police have charged a 35 year old Morden man with Forcible Confinement, Assault and two counts of Failing to Comply with a Probation order following an incident this date.  Around 11:00 am, police received a call for assistance at an apartment where a female was attempting to move out some of her belongings.  The boyfriend became upset, locked the door, and refused to let her leave.  The female was assaulted and physically held from attempting to leave.  Police arrived and were able to gain entry into the apartment.  The accused was arrested, remanded into custody, and transported to the Winnipeg Remand Centre where he awaits his next court appearance.  Police also located a stolen truck nearby which was related to a break and enter incident that occurred in Winkler.  The vehicle was turned over to the Winkler Police Service for further investigation.  

June 17th, 2017

Police received a call around 2:30 am this date from a victim who advised he had just been robbed and assaulted in Morden Park.  Police spoke with the victim who advised that he and two other friends were sitting in the shelter when a group of about 3-4 males came up to them.  The victim reports that he was ordered to give them his phone and then punched in the face several times.  The victim did have a large bump on his forehead.  A second victim had his neck chain taken from him by the suspects.  The suspects were described as being native in appearance and wearing black hoodies.  One of the suspects was apparently carrying a knife, described as a wooden handled machete. The suspects made off with some money and the victim’s LG cell phone.  Police are continuing to investigate this incident.  


June 17th, 2017

Around 11:00 am this date, police observed a vehicle driving around the Blue Rock storage units at 76 Wilcocks Road in Morden.  The vehicle stopped and a male exited the driver’s seat and attempted to enter a door to one of the storage units.  Police recognized the driver, who was known to be a prohibited driver.  The driver was arrested and it was confirmed he was in fact prohibited from driving.  There was also a Warrant for Arrest from the Winnipeg Police Service for failing to comply with a Recognizance.  The 35-year-old Lowe Farm resident was issued a Promise to Appear in Morden Provincial Court in July for Drive while Prohibited as well as a Promise to Appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court in July for Failing to comply with his Recognizance.  The accused vehicle was impounded for a mandatory minimum of 30 days.
