Morden Police Service responded to a stabbing assault this weekend.

On June 17, police were dispatched to an assault between a group of youth ranging in age from 15 to 17. Police learned a dispute had escalated after one male youth had accused another of stealing a piece of drug paraphernalia. At one point the youth stabbed the other with a pocket knife before fleeing. Police say the victim did not require medical attention for his injuries.

Shortly after, police were called to another residence where the suspect had fled. When officers arrived paramedics were treating the suspect for a stab wound. The suspect explained to police he had also been stabbed during the altercation, but with a utility knife. He required stitches and was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police continue to investigate.
